The Aledo High School varsity tennis team had an outstanding showing at their first tournament of the spring season on January 27 at the Brewer Polar Bear tournament, by medaling in every draw. Some of the teams in competition with the Aledo team were Brock, Azle, Brewer, Duncanville, and Weatherford.
In girls’ A draw singles Aledo’s Nikki Adamie won first in straight sets 6-1, 6-0, and in B draw girls’ singles Claire Stagner won first place in a tight three set match 4-6, 6-4, (10-7). Also taking third place in B draw girls’ singles was Taryn Fambrough 6-2, 6-4.
In boys’ A draw singles, Alec Meendsen took second place in a tight 5-7, 5-7 match. In boys’ B draw singles James Young took second place and Colby Crawford won consolation.
The Aledo Varsity team took first in all draws of boys’ and girls’ doubles. Posting a first place win in girls’ A draw doubles was Priscilla Schimming and Erin Davis, and posting another first place win in girls’ B draw doubles was the pairing of Allison Dale and Meghan Ayers.
Posting a first place win in boys’ A draw doubles was the pairing of Jared Kelm and Lance McClure. They defeated the pairing of Miles Grubbs and Trey Fambrough in a tight three set finals match 6-1, 5-7, 7-5. Also posting a first place win in boys’ B draw doubles was the pairing of Brian McGee and Ethan Witkowski.

In mixed doubles A draw, the pairing of Ben Colvin and Carly Siddons took second place, and in mixed doubles B draw Tristan Trotter and Tristyn Fambrough won first place.
The Aledo varsity tennis team will travel to play in the Arlington High School tournament on February 3.
